Lead is often used in plating baths for making lead alloys, where the lead concentration needs to be monitored in order to ensure that the correct amount of lead is incorporated into the alloys. Lead can also enter into water sources, such as drinking water, when it passes through pipes contain lead which have corroded. Lead is hazardous to human health, so it is particularly important to remove as much lead as possible from drinking water sources.
Lead concentration can be measured using an ion-selective electrode (ISE). Hanna offer a range of ISE instrumentation suitable for accurate determination of lead concentrations.
