Resistivity is measured in water samples as an indication of the ability of the water to resist electrical currents. The level of resistivity is directly linked to the concentration of salts that are dissolved in the water, as high levels of dissolved salts results in the water having a low resistivity. It is important to measure resistivity levels in ultrapure water, drinking water and aquaculture as the resistivity gives an indication of the purity of the water.
